In 2008, Ruroc launched RG 1, the world's first fully integrated ski helmet, goggles and mask. Over the last decade, the product has not only gained a cult following amongst snow sports enthusiasts but also amongst users in other markets including motorsports pit crews, wingsuit pilots and skydivers. Ruroc has over 30,000 helmet systems in circulation, weekly Sky Sports coverage in the pit lanes of Formula One and a network of almost one million followers.

Designing a classic.
From a blank page, Curventa worked with the RUROC team to create everything related to the brand, from the iconographic product through to the logo, and they have stood the test of time!
Due to the nature of the beast, it was imperative to get to grips with the form and ergonomics in the round. So once early sketches had been filtered and refined we moved the design into wearable foam “sketch” models. From there the foams were laser scanned and then surfaced in 3D CAD to create printed parts that allowed form, fit and function tests to be performed.
Development.
Curventa were responsible for sourcing all manufacturers and liaising with them through the manufacture process. This included all plastic moulders, goggle manufacturer, EPS moulder and fabric supplier.
Our approach ensured that the helmet was designed from the outset to meet all relevant safety standards, ensuring that the helmet passed rigorous drop testing and successfully passed ASTM and EU certification.
