Pulse is the world's first 'Guybrator' with patented PulsePlate technology. This revolutionary male stimulator coupled with a female vibration area is the first product from London sex toy company Hot Octopuss.

Taking inspiration from concepts, technology and materials from outside the adult industry, we aimed to create a product that went beyond conventional thinking and challenged perceptions of how sex toys should look and function. Following three years of extensive research and development, Pulse was launched in Las Vegas and has since been heralded as the biggest innovation in the adult toy market for 20 years.

Oscillation not vibration.

Our intention with Pulse was to produce the most intimate wearable on the market, it was never going to be just a sex toy. Built around an oscillation movement, the mechanism provides users with a sensation that is as unique as its outside form. Through a process of building, testing and modifying prototype after prototype, our engineers ensured that Pulse delivered an experience unlike any other.    

Success story.

Pulse changed the face of male stimulation devices. Coined as the world's first ‘Guybrator', it succeeded in opening up the sex toy market to a much wider audience. Unlike many other pleasure products on the market that are either seen as seedy or juvenile, Pulse features a sleek design packed with technology designed specifically to work with the male body. When launched, Hot Ocotopuss gained instant success in UK and European markets and very quickly crossed over into the US. 

No Taboos.

Hot Ocotopuss’ founders Adam and Julia wanted the brand to truly reflect the spirit of the company, which they formed in Camden, London. With every project, we always start with user insights and this project was no different. We believe that when it comes to good design there are no taboos and we gathered these insights with utmost professionalism, sensitivity and respect.

Establishing the brand from scratch, we helped develop the logo, typeface, packaging and POS elements to have a distinctly edgy yet contemporary British feel.

Built from the ground up.

Right from the outset, it was obvious that user experience was critical with this most intimate of wearables. Pulse went through a rigorous design and development process. Initial sketches were turned into 3D foam models to get an idea of form, scale and usability and refined through prototyping and 3D printing. Multiple iterative improvements were made to the data and prototypes, responding to feedback from user testing, until we were ready to release data for manufacture.

Our involvement in the product didn’t stop there. Utilising our manufacturing contacts in the Far East, we introduced Hot Octopuss to their supplier, a key adult toy manufacturer for many of the biggest names in the industry. We liaised with them to ensure a smooth progress, visiting multiple times to refine the tooling and assembly process.

Awards, press and coverage.

The Pulse won the coveted XBIZ 'Couples Sex Toy of the Year' award in Los Angeles California, beating the most established and respected manufacturers in the business. The product also went on to receive the 2014 Couples Sex Toy of the year, 2015 Male Sex Toy of the Year and most recently Hot Octopuss have been named XBIZ Boutique Pleasure Products Company of the Year.
